A Resort Island Built Around the Beach
Al Marjan Island is a man-made island group off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah in the northern United Arab Emirates, designed around beachfront resorts, marinas and leisure space on the Arabian Gulf. The islands are shaped in the form of a coral-inspired cluster, linked to the mainland by a causeway, and the result is a compact, walkable resort district with wide sands and open sea views. It has become one of the most talked-about places for a Gulf beach holiday, especially for guests who want space and calm.
The setting is deliberately simple: long stretches of sand, calm shallow water and a skyline that keeps its distance from the beach. Hotels range from established international names to newer resort openings, and the island is also known for its growing choice of restaurants, cafes and leisure facilities. Compared with the high-rise energy of Dubai, Al Marjan Island offers a slower, more spacious version of the Emirates beach holiday, which suits families, couples and groups equally.
Sand, Sunsets and Mountain Days Out
A stay here is built around the sea. Guests spend mornings on the sand, afternoons by the pool or on the water, and evenings along the waterfront as the Gulf turns gold. The resorts offer spa programmes, kids' clubs and a range of dining from relaxed beach cafes to elegant hotel restaurants, and the marina areas add a lively evening scene. The shallow, sheltered bays make the beaches comfortable for families, and early walks along the shore are a quiet pleasure.
The island also works as a base. Within a short drive lie the mountains of Jebel Jais, the mangroves of Ras Al Khaimah and the heritage of Dhayah Fort, all described in the guide to Ras Al Khaimah. For a longer Emirates journey, Sharjah adds culture and Abu Dhabi adds landmark attractions. A hotel group could use the island to show how a beachfront stay can be paired with adventure and heritage in one itinerary.
